IPX5 Flooding Pressure Testing

15 November 2024

The IPX5 flooding pressure testing machine is used to verify the water resistance of outdoor LED screens, ensuring they meet IPX8 standards for protection against long-term immersion. Here’s how the testing process works:

Testing Details and Steps

1. Preparation:

• Ensure the LED screen is fully assembled, with all seals and gaskets in place.

• Connect the screen to a power source and monitor performance during the test.

2. Setup:

• Place the LED screen in the testing chamber of the IPX5 machine.

• Set the desired water pressure and immersion depth (IPX5 typically requires greater than 1 meter).

3. Testing Process:

• Flood the chamber with water until the screen is fully submerged.

• Maintain the pressure for a specified duration (as defined by the test standard or client requirements).

• Observe the screen to ensure no water leakage or damage to internal components.

4. Performance Check:

• Monitor the screen’s operation during immersion to confirm functionality.

• After the test, inspect for water ingress, damage, or compromised performance.

5. Result Evaluation:

• A successful test confirms that the LED screen can withstand prolonged water exposure at specified pressures, meeting IPX8 standards.

Waterproof IP protection level 1-8:

IPX1 prevents vertical dripping, which should have no harmful effects;

IPX2 prevents vertical dripping when the housing is tilted within a 15 degree range. When the vertical surfaces of the housing are tilted within a 15 degree range, vertical dripping should have no harmful effects;

IPX3 waterproof, with each vertical surface exposed to water within a 60 degree range without any harmful effects;

IPX4 splash proof, splashing water in all directions towards the shell without harmful effects;

IPX5 waterproof spray, spraying water in all directions towards the shell without harmful effects;

IPX6 anti strong water spray, strong water spray in all directions of the shell without harmful effects;

IPX7 prevents short-term water immersion, ensuring that the amount of water entering the casing after immersion in water at a specified pressure for a specified period of time does not reach a harmful level;

IPX8 prevents the impact of continuous diving, and according to the conditions agreed upon by both the manufacturer and the user (which should be stricter than when the characteristic number is 7), the amount of water entering the shell after continuous diving should not reach a harmful level;

This rigorous process ensures that outdoor LED screens are highly durable and capable of withstanding extreme weather conditions.
